Falgons Castle, located in a natural environment between Pla de l'Estany and La Garrotxa, with construction data dating back to the 8th century. But what makes it special is its good state of conservation, which allows us to relive the rooms of daily life in the Middle Ages. It is a building with a quadrangular floor plan, with four reinforcement towers coming out of the corners and a central patio. It is a square-shaped building with four towers oriented to the cardinal points, typically medieval and dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. Above the entrance door is the Cartellà shield with the legend 'Ave Maria, Gratia Plena, Dominus Tecum', a badge granted by Charlemagne to the Cartellà lineage. Entering the patio, to the left, we find a large room that had been the cow court, currently it is a small museum of tools and vessels from different periods, all related to rural life. The interesting thing about this room is the architectural restoration work carried out. The walls have been re-pecked to recover the original stone (sand and travertine) while respecting the initial shape it had (round arch). At the beginning of the 18th century, a chapel dedicated to San Antonio Abad was built, to which a procession took place twice a year, and which had access from the patio. There was also access to the stables and the servants' quarters. A stone staircase leads to the upper floor, where you can see the large rooms of this medieval fortress. These rooms are decorated with armor and other knightly objects. The doors and windows date from the 15th and 16th centuries. The main room is two stories high and at the top, a gallery with a balcony surrounds the room on three of the four sides. On one of the sides (the deepest one) you can see what had been the baron's bed. From here, via a side staircase, you can climb one of the towers from which you can see a general view of what remains of the only original tower that remains.
